Trondheim Norway. Most of the old storehouses by the river Nidelven have been destroyed by fires. The new ones had to be made to fit the old ones. Now the few old ones stand out as the odd ones. Medieval Manhatten:
View On Black San Gimignano, “the city of the beautiful Towers” lies in Tuscany, Italy, 56 km south of Florence and 38 km north-west of Siena. In the Middle Age San Gimignano was an important resting place for pilgrims on their way to Rome along the Via Francigena. The patrician families who controlled the town built around 72 house-towers (some up to 50 m high) as symbols of their wealth and their power. Although only 14 house-towers have survived, San Gimignano maintains its medieval atmosphere.
