The Khotyn Fortress:
Khotyn is one of the famous places in modern Ukraine. It was born as a part of Kievan Rus but later was conquered and controlled by many different states. The first chronicle appeared in 1001. One of the  famous event is the Battle of Khotyn in 1621. Between Turkish forces 200.000-250.000 led by Osman II and the Commonwealth Polish-Ukrainian (35.000+40.000) forces by polish commander Jan Karol Chodkiewicz and Ukrainian hetman Petro Konashevych. The victory of Commonwealth forces marked the end of the long period of Moldavian Magnate Wars. In 1673 happened another great victory of the Commonwealth Moldavian-Polish-Ukrainian forces led by Jan III Sobieski. After the battle Jan III Sobieski got a name “The lion of Khotyn” During the War of Liberation from Poland Ukrainan cossacks led by Tymofiy Knmelnitsky (son of hetman Bohdan Khmelnitsky) got a fortress in 1650 and 1652—1653 Nowadays, it is historical-architectural preserve “Khotynska Fortetsia” (Khotyn Fortress)
